Our story
Built on Augusta Roots
Three generations of woodworking knowledge, one family's commitment to doing the work right.
How we started
From a Garage in Augusta to Every Room in the CSRA
Augusta Trim and Carpentry started the way most good things do — with a handshake and a job that needed doing right. Founder James Whitfield grew up watching his grandfather finish trim in the older homes of the Hill, learning that the difference between a house and a home often comes down to the details no one can quite name but everyone can feel.
After years working for larger contractors across the CSRA, James started his own shop in 2009 out of a two-car garage on the south side of Augusta. The first year was mostly referrals from neighbors. By the third year, he had a waiting list.
Today we're a small, intentional crew. We don't take on more than we can do well. Every project gets the same attention whether it's a single door casing or a whole-home renovation — because that's the only way we know how to work.
What we believe
The Principles Behind Every Project
Craft over speed
We don't rush. Good finish carpentry takes time, and we'd rather take an extra day than leave a joint that doesn't sit right.
Honest estimates
You'll know the full cost before we start. No surprises, no change orders for things we should have caught upfront.
Clean jobsites
We treat your home with respect. That means drop cloths, daily cleanup, and leaving every room better than we found it.
Local roots
We live here. We shop here. We want Augusta to be a place people are proud to call home — and good craftsmanship is part of that.
The crew
Small by Design
We keep our team tight on purpose. Every person who works on your home has been trained the same way — with patience, precision, and pride in the finished product. You'll meet us at the estimate, and you'll see the same faces on the job.
